Average Formula

Average (Mean) = Sum of all values ÷ Number of values

What Is the Median?

The median is the middle value when numbers are sorted in order. If there is an even count of numbers, the median is the average of the two middle values.

Example

Numbers: 85, 90, 78, 92, 88

  • Sum: 433
  • Average: 433 ÷ 5 = 86.6
  • Median: 88 (middle value when sorted)
  • Min: 78, Max: 92, Range: 14
