Attendance Calculator
Calculate your attendance percentage and find out how many classes you need to attend to reach your target.
How to Use the Attendance Calculator
Enter the total number of classes held so far and the number of classes you have attended. Set your target attendance percentage (default is 75%). Click Calculate to see your current attendance percentage and how many more classes you need to attend.
How Attendance Percentage Is Calculated
Attendance percentage is calculated using a simple formula:
Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes) × 100
For example, if 120 classes were held and you attended 90:
Attendance = (90 ÷ 120) × 100 = 75%
Attendance Calculation Formula
To find how many classes you need to attend to reach a target percentage:
Classes Needed = ⌈(Target × Total − 100 × Attended) ÷ (100 − Target)⌉
To find how many classes you can miss while maintaining a target:
Classes You Can Miss = ⌊(100 × Attended − Target × Total) ÷ Target⌋
Example Calculation
You have attended 65 out of 100 classes and need 75% attendance.
- Current attendance: (65 ÷ 100) × 100 = 65%
- Classes needed: ⌈(75 × 100 − 100 × 65) ÷ (100 − 75)⌉ = ⌈(7500 − 6500) ÷ 25⌉ = 40 classes
- You need to attend the next 40 classes consecutively to reach 75%.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is attendance percentage calculated?
Attendance percentage = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Held) × 100. For example, if you attended 90 out of 120 classes, your attendance is 75%.
How many classes can I miss with 75% attendance?
This depends on your current attendance and total classes. Use the calculator above — enter your numbers and it will tell you exactly how many classes you can safely miss while maintaining 75%.
How many classes do I need to attend to reach 75%?
The calculator computes this for you. It uses the formula: Classes Needed = (Target × Total − 100 × Attended) ÷ (100 − Target), rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Why is 75% attendance important?
Most Indian universities and colleges require a minimum of 75% attendance for students to be eligible to sit for examinations. Some institutions may have different thresholds — use the custom target feature to check any percentage.
Can I use this for semester or yearly attendance?
Yes. Enter the total classes held and classes attended for any time period — weekly, monthly, semester or full year. The formula works the same way regardless of the time period.
